Near Keystone Heights and just northeast of Gainesville, Florida, you'll find Waldo. Known regionally for the
Waldo Farmers and Flea Market,
Waldo is an easy town to miss in north central Florida. That doesn't mean that you should miss it. In fact, while exploring places in the region for outdoor hiking, biking, and other recreation, I expected this tiny town amid the longleaf pines to be a short visit - see one or two sites, take a few pictures, and move on.
What I found instead was a friendly town with more outdoor opportunities than I could count, but including great fishing, boating, hunting, horseback riding, and of course the hiking and picnic spots I went there for. Someone expecting to spend a few hours could spend days here, and days could easily turn into weeks. Here are some of my stops in this amazing if lesser-known place.
Enjoy the outdoors!
