New page added to bryanberg.net for identifying butterflies and other insects and bugs in North Central Florida.
There are many great pages around the web for identifying butterflies, insects, spiders…anything!
What I have found difficult is searching for them in my particular area – Putnam, Marion, and Alachua Counties and the vicinity – without already knowing the names. I would search “butterfly with blue wings and white spots” and view many, many images and pages before finally narrowing the specimen down to the right one.
This page is created with North Central Florida hikers in mind. It also captions the specimens with the sort of descriptors I would use in trying to find them, labeling each by the common name. From their, outdoor enthusiasts and naturalist can search that name and find exactly what they are looking for on the web.
If this project works in attracting regional hikers eager to identify the butterflies, insects, spiders, and other “bugs” they find on the trail, I intend to build a more comprehensive listing for regional widlflowers.
In the meantime, please enjoy the new page as well as the dozens of Florida hiking trails listed with location and trail maps for areas near Ocala, Gainesville, and Palatka, Florida.
