Hiking Trails and Historic Sites Down South
My hiking slowed down after moving from Florida to Western Georgia to take a job at UWG (Go Wolves!) but that’s not for a lack of great places to visit on your next road trip.
So let’s get your hike on. Some neat places to visit down south and off the beaten path.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park – Riverside Trail
Twelve miles of hiking wooded hills along the Chattahoochee River outside of Carrollton, Georgia
Chinnabee Silent Trail
Rugged and beautiful – 9-mile there and back trail at Cheaha State Park in the Talladega National Forest, Alabama
Cochran Mill Park – Henry’s Mill Falls Yellow Trail
Hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian in the wooded hillsides near Atlanta – plan a weekday and avoid the crowds
Little Tallapoosa Park – Carrollton, Georgia
Pleasant, outdoor activities including trail hiking without leaving town
West Georgia Museum of Tallapoosa
“Quite a spectacle” and a must-see in Haralson County, western Georgia
