49th Ave. Trailhead to Land Bridge Trailhead – Portion of the Marjorie Harris Carr Greenway near Marion Oaks. Taken as a fun, hilly, 8-mile there-and-back hiking trail.

Gores Landing Unit Wildlife Management Area – A great hike away from it all. This woodsy there-and-back trail leads to the Ocklawaha River in Ocala National Forest.

Indian Lake State Forest: Bear-n-Oak Trail – Humble views, picnic area, and wildlife. A nice, short hike around Indian Lake sinkhole outside of Ocala.

Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area – Chernobyl Memorial Forest – An enjoyable 5-mile hiking and horseback riding loop. Located at the southern end of the Area.

Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area – Upland Trail– Fun 4.5 mile loop with woods, open fields, river, and a camping area in the woods. Lots of open sun so best in cool months.

Orange Creek Conservation Area – South Tract Miles of hiking and horseback riding trails to yourself near Citra. See also Orange Creek North Tract in Hiking Alachua County

Orange Springs Park – Not for hiking, but this nice park offers grills, tables, and a playground in Fort McCoy. Donated by the Orange Springs Community Church in 1966.

Pat’s Island Trailhead to Hidden Pond – Great 8-mile there-and-back along Florida Trail through Juniper Prairie Wilderness region of Ocala National Forest.

Pruitt Hiking Trail at Ross Prairie – A great 6-mile there-and-back hiking trail plus biking and equestrian trails with plenty of shade and even a ravine near Ocala

Salt Springs Observation Trail – Short, two-mile hiking loop with deck overlooking Salt Springs Run. Not a long hike but ideal for a morning walk or jog.

Silver Glen Springs Recreation Area – A short hike offering many great views of Lake George. Find plenty of animals plus swimming, canoe rentals, and more.

Silver Springs Connector Trail – PERMANENTLY CLOSED – May 1, 2021 – A short, 3-mile there and back trail through subtropical forest in Fort McCoy, Florida.

Silver Springs Forest Conservation Area – Great hiking and biking where you feel you have the place to yourself. Plenty of dear and other wildlife including boar and bobcats.

Silver Springs State Park – Hardwood hammock forest hiking and river views while still in town. Many diverse trails, most of them mapped here and add up to more than 8 miles.

Sunnyhill Restoration Area – Starting at the North Entrance, hike as few or as many miles as you want with multiple loops with prairie and canal views.
