Picnic and Playground with Map to Get You There
Orange Springs Park
Marion County
Fort McCoy, Florida
Entry Fee: None
Traffic: Light
The county always looks like a great place for a family picnic. You leave town, and there is so much open land that you can’t wait to dive in. But the fact is, you can’t just pull over and spread a blanket because someone owns that land. When you live in a rural community such as Fort McCoy, you are more likely to come across fences and no-trespassing signs as a shaded place to spread a blanket.
That is why public parks are every bit as important in rural communities as in the city. Not everyone owns 20 acres or has personal access to outdoor grills or a playground. Plus, public parks offer the opportunity for community greeting and events. You just might meet the neighbor you never knew.
Donated by the Orange Springs Community Church in 1966, Orange Springs Park lies at the wedge of NE Highway 315 and County Road 21 in Fort McCoy Florida at the edge of Marion County. With just under an acre of land, it offers picnic benches, grills, a playground, and plenty of shade in the summer plus community warmth in the winter.
